What's the Difference Between Gift Card Codes + Gift Card ID's?

Gift Card Codes are the alphanumeric strings that customers add at Checkout or on the POS they are the redemption code that would be on a physical Gift Card.
Humans use this and Gift Cards redeem with this value. This is also Column A on our CSV. On the backend of Shopify you'll only get the last 4 digits of the Gift Card code as Gift Cards are considered currency.

Gift Card IDs on the other hand are an internal system reference number that's always unique and created by Shopify. You'd almost never use them for anything human readable. They are a lot like Product IDs in Shopify.

They would usually be used by an API or in Data Exports or by 3rd party apps to identify Gift Cards.
If you ever need to get the Shopify Gift Card IDs you can do to the Shopify backend go to Products —> Gift Cards select the ones you want to export and you'll get the IDs and the Last 4 characters of the Gift Cards:
