Can I import Gift Cards and Store Credit in other currencies?
Yes! Selling Point now supports multi-currency migrations. You can import Gift Cards and Store Credit in whatever currency they were originally issued in, not just your store's currency, and Shopify keeps a separate balance per currency for each customer, so no conversion is needed.
Just put the currency's 3-letter code in the Currency column of your CSV (USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, JPY, and so on). You can find a list of popular currencies here.
Choosing how cards can be redeemed (Gift Cards)
On the Gift Card import screen, Step 4 has a Redemption in option that controls how a card in one currency can be spent:
- Use Shopify's default (recommended): Cards in your store's currency can be spent in any currency. Cards in another currency can only be spent in that currency.
- All currencies: Every card can be spent in any currency, converted at the current exchange rate.
- Issued currency only: Every card can only be spent in the exact currency it was issued in.
For most merchants the default is the right choice.

A heads up about currencies your store doesn't sell in yet
If you import a Gift Card or Store Credit in a currency your store isn't currently set up to sell in, it will still import successfully, but we'll flag it with a Warning in your results that reads:
Successfully imported, but [currency] is not an active currency in your store. Customers can't spend this credit until you add a market that sells in [currency].
The money is on the card, it just can't be spent until you add a market for that currency in Shopify (Settings > Markets). Once the market is active, the balance becomes spendable automatically. Warnings count as successful imports, they're just there to let you know.
